Uptown Cincinnati Strategic Opportunity Plan

The Strategic Opportunity Plan provides a broad vision and identity for the Uptown area of Cincinnati by improving circulation, connectivity, open space, centers of activity and the physical relationships of large institutions to their neighborhoods.

The Uptown area of Cincinnati is home both to diverse neighborhoods and to a concentration of the city's most significant institutions and hospitals. The Strategic Opportunity Plan, developed under the leadership of the Uptown Consortium whose members include the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Cincinnati Zoo & Botanic Garden, Health Alliance, and Tri-Health, Inc., addresses common needs as well as strategic planning and development issues to improve the physical and economic environment of Uptown, overcoming physical divisions resulting from a legacy of urban renewal. Urban design aspects of the plan strengthen and restore the existing street grid, improve access to the large institutions, connect existing retail corridors and create continuous pedestrian-friendly zones. The framework guides ongoing and future redevelopment projects.
